It's been said before, but Lady Gaga may truly be gaga. In her latest move to promote her upcoming album ARTPOP, the singer went on camera to have her septum pierced. Ouch.
Makeup artist Tara Savelo posted the video to YouTube with the title "haus life" — in the minute-long clip, we see Gaga calmly lying on her back while Chicago artist Steve Bennett pierces her nose.
In contrast to her peaceful demeanor, some seriously thumping electronic music serves as the soundtrack. Is it a preview of ARTPOP? Or just Savelo's jam of the moment? Amidst all the fan speculation, Savelo tweeted "The music's not from the album, it's from the experience xoxo."
Check out the video below. (Warning: it's not for the faint of heart.)
The piercing video is just the latest in a string of promotional material from Lady Gaga in anticipation of ARTPOP's fall release. On Friday, she tweeted a nude promo pic, and on Monday, she released the cover art for her upcoming first single "Applause," due August 19.
In the latter, we see Gaga's face, covered in paint-like, smeared makeup, confirming she's still every bit the artist that took the world by storm in 2008.
ARTPOP drops on November 11. Let the countdown continue.
