We simply can’t wait for this year C3 Anime Festival to happen! It’s really an agony waiting for the day to come, particularly for us who happened to be an ardent team of anime fanatics and Jpop-lovers. Thankfully, we have these foods to calm ourselves down before the Festival.

Cow Cow Sundae from Tokyo Milk Cheese ($8.50)

With the opening of Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory at Raffles City, now you need not fly out of the town to indulge in all the cheesy goodness anymore. We totally understand if you couldn’t make up your mind on where to splurge your calories on because everything on the menu just looks so yummy. That’s why we suggest getting the Cow Cow Sundae which comes with soft-serve, a piece of Salt &Camembert cookie, along with a slice of milk cheesecake. The choice is certainly the ultimate choice for the indecisive snacker in you.

Pesto Dry Udon from Tamoya Udon ($8.80)

alt

Despite clinching the title “Best Udon Maker of Kagawa Prefecture”, the humble Tamoya chose not to rest on her laurels and levelled up their game with a brand-new tossed udon series this November. Out of the new menu, we especially love the Pesto Dry Udon. We were glad that rather than the expected grassy flavour, the dish actually boosts a combination of nutty, meaty and mildly spicy flavour. It’s indeed a unique east meets west fusion dish!

Remember to “jio” your bffs and compete to see how high you can toss the ribbons of udon. Other flavours include the Fried Onion Udon ($8.80), Triple Egg Udon ($9.80) and Oooh-mami Udon ($10.80).

Not to be mistaken as part of Food Republic, Japanese Food Garden is, in fact, a cluster of authentic Japanese concept stalls managed and lead by Japanese.  For the first time ever (since last week), the food garden is introducing Sizzling Hot Stone Bowls! Be spoilt for choices like Beef Curry, Mentai Chaduke, Salmon Egg, Mabo Tofu, Cream Sauce Dora and Gyu Don! If you’re hungry, you can even top up your sizzling bowls with chicken cutlet, cheese or egg. Itadakimasu!

Do yourself a favour and forget about the regular “Japanese style pizza” you see at our local pasar malem. Make a trip down to Tsuruhasi Fugetsu and experience how authentic okonomiyaki should taste like. In case you didn’t know, Tsuruhasi Fugetsu is Osaka’s number one and largest Okonmiyaki restaurant.

Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the popular savoury pancakes are made using wheat flour and mixed with fresh cabbage, then grilled with slices of battered meat or seafood. Aside from the classic, the shop also serves modan-yaki, yakisoba and teppanyaki!

Planning a trip to the newly established T4? Don’t forget to pay T2 a visit too! Just last week, SORA, a new Japanese food hall has opened its doors at T2. Owned by All Nippon Airways, the food hall houses various mouth-watering and interesting food choices. We particularly love the Mentaiko Pizza from Japoli Kitchen. Prior to this, we didn’t even know that mentaiko and melted cheese can work so well together. Trust us when we said the pizza is delightfully chewy and you just can’t stop at one.

Hokkaido Omakase Dinner from NAMI Shangri La Hotel ($180 ++)

alt

Dining at NAMI Restaurant and Bar which sits at the renewed Tower Wing of Shangri-La hotel is indeed both a pleasure for the palates and mind. With the restaurant’s lofty pitched roof and natural light, you can relax in your seat while relishing the freshness of the ingredients. We recommend choosing the much pocket-friendly 7 course Hokkaido Omakase which include items from one of the most highly prized mushroom- Matsutake mushroom.
