Pet photographer Sophie Gamand is interested in the different things humans do with their pets, and her ‘Wet Dog’ series explores one of the most common activities—a wash at the groomer’s.
The dogs show a series of expressions while being bathed, ranging from anger and resignation, to calmness and relaxation.
“When I photograph dogs, I look for the human in them: an expression, the life in their eyes, a smile,” Gamand says.
“Wet Dog is part of a project about grooming and the way we alter our dogs’ appearance to fit standards of hygiene and beauty,” she explains.
No matter how much a dog dreads having a bath, it’s impossible to evade the task if it wants to be clean and healthy. What do you think?
