Gisele Bündchen is no soccer star, but the famed Brazilian model will have a major task to complete for this year's World Cup.
According to the Boston Globe, Gisele Bündchen is slated to present the winners of the 2014 World Cup with the FIFA World Cup Trophy. The trophy is usually presented by the head of state of the host country, but Brazil's president Dilma Rousseff is currently incredibly unpopular for spending billions of dollars on the World Cup when so many of the country's citizens are poor.
Bündchen will present the FIFA World Cup Trophy to the tournament's winning team at the official closing ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on July 13 at the Maracana Mário Filho Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The coveted trophy will be contained in a custom-made Louis Vuitton trunk (who said sports can't be fashionable?).
Fans of Tom Brady, Bündchen's husband, will be happy to hear that the football star is slated to join his husband in Brazil at the closing ceremony.
Bündchen isn't the only model who's taking part in the 2014 World Cup. Models Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Raquel Zimmermann and Isabeli Fontana were recently shot by Steven Meisel for a feature in Vogue's June 2014 issue. The Brazilian-born beauties also appeared in a short video in which they discussed the importance of soccer to their home country.
